WhatsApp Number Onboarding

Follow these steps to add and verify a new phone number for your WhatsApp Business account and connect it to the indigitall chat service (displayed as 11 1bot by indigitall during the Meta setup).

Before You Begin

Make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • You have admin access to your Meta Business Manager.
  • You have a valid phone number that can receive an international SMS or voice call.
  • Important: The phone number must not be currently registered with any other WhatsApp application (neither the standard WhatsApp nor the WhatsApp Business app). If it is, you must delete that account first.

Important Limitations for Unverified Accounts:
While you can start immediately, unverified businesses have a messaging limit. You will only be able to send business-initiated messages to 250 unique customers per rolling 24-hour period.

How to remove the limits:
To lift this restriction and scale your messaging (to 1,000, 10,000, or unlimited customers per day), you must complete the Business Verification process in your Meta Business Settings later on.

How to Choose a WhatsApp Display Name

To ensure a smooth onboarding process with indigitall, your WhatsApp Business display name must comply with Meta’s formatting rules. If your name doesn't meet these guidelines, Meta may reject it, which will delay your account setup.

Here are the key rules to get your display name approved on the first try:

  • Match Your Brand: Your display name must clearly relate to your business. It should be your company's legal name, your trading name, or a specific brand/department you own.
  • Use Standard Capitalization: You cannot use all caps unless your official business name is an acronym. Use grammatically correct capitalization (e.g., use Indigitall Chat, not INDIGITALL CHAT or indigitall chat).
  • Keep It Clean: Do not include emojis, symbols (such as ®, ™), unnecessary punctuation, or extra spaces between words.
  • No URLs: Your display name cannot include web extensions like .com, .org, or .net.
  • Avoid Purely Generic Terms: You cannot use only a generic word (e.g., "Fashion" or "Agency") or just a geographic location (e.g., "New York"). It must include your unique brand name.
  • Minimum Length: The name must be at least 3 characters long.

Pro Tip: Keeping your display name identical to how your brand appears on your website or social media makes it easier for Meta to verify and approve it quickly!

FAQ

How many messages can I send before verifying my business?

The maximum depends on your account tier prior to verification.

Unverified business accounts operate under a restricted trial tier (typically limited to 250 business-initiated conversations in a rolling 24-hour period). Completing Meta’s Business Verification process removes these initial constraints, unlocking progressive daily recipient tiers of 1,000, 10,000, 100,000, or unlimited unique contacts per day based on your messaging quality rating.

How should the business name be written when registering the
number?

Use standard Title Case or Sentence Case for your display name.

Meta restricts the use of ALL CAPS unless your official, registered legal entity or trademark is a recognized acronym. Your display name must also closely match your company’s brand identity, official website, or legal documentation.

Can I use a number that is already registered in the WhatsApp app?

Yes, but you must delete the existing WhatsApp account first.

To migrate a number from WhatsApp Messenger or the WhatsApp Business App to the WhatsApp Business Platform/API:

  • Account Deletion Required: You must open the WhatsApp app on your phone and permanently delete the account (Settings > Account > Delete my account). Simply uninstalling the mobile app or moving the SIM card is not sufficient.
  • Release Timeframe: The release occurs instantly. As soon as the account deletion is confirmed in the app, the phone number is immediately unlinked and available for registration on indigitall.

What happens to my number if I switch providers later on?

Your phone number remains 100% portable between WhatsApp Business Solution Providers (BSPs).

  • What You Retain: You keep your phone number, approved Meta display name, verified account status (including green checkmark badges), messaging volume limits, and approved template catalog.
  • What Is Not Transferred: Active chat threads, message history stored on the previous provider's servers, and provider-specific configurations (such as custom chatbot scripts or webhook automation rules) do not migrate automatically and must be re-established on indigitall.
